Product Description
Pontarlier Absinthe Glass The Pontarlier absinthe glass has a long tradition of being the most popular glass and having the most history. The mouth blown glass is a replica of a traditional Pontarlier antique absinthe glass. The glass was originally named after Pontarlier, France after the glass appeared in an advertisement for Producer Pernod fils, which featured it's hometown newspaper from Pontarlier. A must have for any absinthe drinker.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Beautiful, sturdy glass.   January 24, 2010

I've started getting into the absinthe scene, but until just recently I've been drinking out of plastic cups and using two pencils to hold up my sugar cube. It felt like I wasn't getting the full sensory effect (I suppose it would be like a wine snob drinking with a Taco Bell dinner). So I bought this glass and a spoon not too long ago and I love it. It looks beautiful and feels very hefty, I was hoping it wouldn't be too thin and fragile and it's not. The bulb (I'm not sure what else to call it) at the bottom of the glass is exactly one shot, and the spoon I ordered from the same company fits over the glass perfectly.

5 out of 5 stars Nice Glasses Four Eyes!   March 27, 2010

The price may be a little bit steep for a single glass, but other than that minor point, I love these glasses (and where else are you going to find absinthe glasses?) These glasses look great and really add to the whole ritual of drinking absinthe (the spoons made by this company are really nice too). I especially love the one ounce "bulb" at the bottom of the glass which insures a perfectly measured shot every time. These are fairly heavy, thick glasses which is a feature I appreciate - I'd be worried about breaking thin crystalware. Anyway, yeah these are perfect!

4 out of 5 stars It works   February 26, 2010

About the only thing I could consider a con for this product is that it is not made out of crystal. But then it would cost a lot more if it was. The lower portion of the glass will hold exactly 1 oz of liquid. So all you have to do is just pour in the absinthe until the bottom reservoir is full and you are then good to go to start adding water. If you fill up the glass with water up to the top of the glass cuts, you will be somewhere between 3:1 and 4:1 water to absinthe. So the cuts can help you eye the amount of water to add, without having to measure it out beforehand.

If you use the B&C brouilleur with this glass, you can't dilute more than 4:1, as the bottom of the brouilleur will come in contact with your drink at about this ratio.
