Product Description
Winner of the European iF Design Award, the Canteen double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed. Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use. Dishwasher & microwave safe.Bodum insulated, double wall glass i

Amazon.com Review
Drawing on modern technology and innovative design, Bodum's Canteen collection puts a new twist on everyday drinkware. The walls of each vessel are hand blown with two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Cut in slightly tapered, clean lines, they have an almost futuristic appeal that emphasizes the relationship of form and function.

This set of two double wall cooler/beer glasses serves anything from chilled lagers to hot cider. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 7-ounce, scratch-resistant set goes safely into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Canteen with the Pavina and Assam lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll

Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

You can get 4 of these at the Coors website for $20....yes, they have the BODUM logo at the bottom. They do say Coors Light, my 1554 Dark Belgium has never complained about it though...

I have ordered a hald dozen of these glasses and they inevitably come broken. I never credit for the returns, Amazon makes great profit, horrible service.

I have owned 2 sizes (12 glasses total) for a year and a half and my first break was 2 days ago through my own inattention. I wasn't looking and hit the side of the stainless steel sink. If I had been paying attention this never would have happened. I wash them usually in the dishwasher but also by hand. I've NEVER had water get in between the 2 layers.
The glasses look good, dress up "every day" uses and I definitely will keep them among my glasses.

5 out of 5 stars Bodum Beer/Milk Glasses   January 30, 2006

While these are described as "beer" glasses, they are fantastic for keeping milk cold through a meal. I actually pour the milk and place the glasses in the freezer while I start dinner. These glasses are easy to clean and retain their "sunny" shine, even though we have very hard water. NO SPOTS! Great product.

I bought a pair of these because they were the mainstay in my favorite Boston area cafe (the Diesel!) and since relocating to Arizona, hot coffee in clear glasses has been missing from my life. These glasses are beautiful to look at, a pleasure to hold and drink from and insulate you from both cold and hot drinks so you can comfortably lift a hot coffee without getting burned or put a tall cold one on a wooden table without a coaster. Also because of the double walled glass, they look cool - the drink seems to "float" inside the glass. But be careful - they are glass and not plastic so they'll break with an impact on a hard floor, countertop or sink. Its best to wash them by themselves (impacting other dishes or pots will crack them!) And be aware that if you drop one (as I did, tragically) on a hard tile floor, you'll be finding glass in odd places for weeks and weeks!
