Product Description Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware
to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in traditional glassware. The boron oxide acts as a glue holding the silicate together and due to the small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger glass. Some customers may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to explain the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to
be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use. Dishwasher & microwave safe.
Amazon.com Review Drawing on modern technology and innovative design, Bodum's Canteen collection puts a new twist on everyday drinkware. The walls of each vessel are hand blown with two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Cut in slightly tapered, clean lines, they have an almost futuristic appeal that emphasizes the relationship of form and function. This set of two double old fashioned/tumbler glasses serves any small beverage from Turkish coffee to tequila. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 3-ounce, scratch-resistant set goes safely into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Canteen with the Pavina and Assam lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

fantastic! November 10, 2006 R. Leslie (Atlanta, GA USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was in NYC earlier this year on business, and I was served an espresso in one of these glasses. It stayed hot for at least 5 times longer than a normal glass and I immediately bought 4 when I returned home. I use these every day; they are utilitarian and beautiful - perfect design in other words.
Make it a double-shot, please October 24, 2008 Michael Lee (Stafford, VA United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
These are great little glasses for espresso. They are about 3 oz., so I use them when pulling double shots. The extra ounce allows some room for drips or for pulling the double long. No heat comes through to the outer surface of the glass so you don't burn your fingers and the shot stays hot longer. I love using a transparent glass to show off the crema - it looks like a mini pint of Guiness!
The way espresso was meant to be drunk February 11, 2009 Kook (San Francisco, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love these glasses. I considered the Pavina model, but preferred having 3 oz. as opposed to 2 oz.
I drink triple shot espressos, Americanos, or macchiatos generally, so this size is perfect for me.
You can also easily determine the quality of the shot based on the level of cascading crema produced.
They shot stays hot longer, but your hand stays cool. Just be wary that you may not expect the liquid to be so hot and approach your beverage cautiously! :)
Stylish and practical December 1, 2007 Darren A. Evenson (Minneapolis, MN United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've used these for espresso for a few months now, and I love them. They provide a stylish way to serve espresso while keeping it hot. I have had no problems with washing them in the dishwasher, and none of them have broken.
keeps the espresso hot! February 26, 2009 M. H. Dean (Machias, ME USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received an espresso maker for Christmas but no Espresso cups. After using regular mugs and ending up with cold Espresso rather quickly, we decided we needed some Espresso glasses. These are very affordable and do an excellent job at keeping the espresso hot while we eat breakfast. They are light-weight, easy to clean, and cool to look at.
